Displaying Your Primary Data L/O: To draw graphs from your data and describe what they show

CW Basic Structure Introduction Hypothesis Definition of QOL Background Info Research on the two areas Method (Table) How you will investigate this Data Collection Collecting data to investigate Results Graphs and description of graphs  Conclusion Are hypotheses correct? Which area has a better QOL?   Evaluation How could you improve? Limitations of our data

Marks for coursework AO1: Knowledge with understanding (12) AO2: Skills and analysis Observation and collection of data (12) Organisation and the presentation of data (12) Analysis (12) AO3: Judgement and decision making Conclusion and evaluation (12) Total 60 marks

Label the arrows to show . . . . . What they are pointing at What this says about the QOL of this area (number 1s are done for you) Closed down shop ____________________________________________________________________ Detached house ____________________________________________________________________ Kerbs in good condition ____________________________________________________________________ Grass verges, well maintained ____________________________________________________________________ Cars parked on street ____________________________________________________________________

How to annotate primary data photos Primary Data Display on Environment Key Question How to annotate primary data photos 1) Terraced Housing – example of owner occupier housing in XXX Town 1 2) On street parking. Housing does not include garages. 2 4) No front gardens to add to the aesthetic appeal 4 3) Pavement clear of litter 3 Remember you need to compare a number of photos of both locations. You must also link what is in the photos back to the main hypothesis which is ‘The quality of life is better in Tomares than in Triana’

Using bi-polar data and represent it in graph form Key Location A Location B Graph showing Complete the title and the boxes to show how you might use this kind of graph in your data display. (Best to focus on 1 key question at a time) 2 1 -1 -2

Can you make sense of this map?

Design your own Choropleth Map Design your own Choropleth Map?! (Could be for whole of Spain or just of Seville?)

Primary Data – Annotated Field Sketch Use Photos to draw them

Using bi-polar data and represent it in graph form Key Location A Location B Graph assessing buildings of location A & B Buildings well designed 2 No vandalism evident Using the data from the graph what conclusions can you draw from the graph based on quality of the buildings in the two locations? (any link to quality of life between the two locations from this graph Evidence of maintenance/ improvement 1 -1 -2 Gardens in good condition Buildings in good condition

Data Display Suggestions 1 Primary Data - 10 sets (approx) (a set of data could mean 1 chart or graph showing both area’s stats or 2, one for each) 1 – Bar Graph(s) – Horizontal 1 – Bar Graph(s) – Vertical 1 – Bar Graph(s) – Positives and Negatives 1 – Pie charts 1 – Radar Graph(s) 3 – Annotated Photos 1 – Field Sketches 1 – Different sized pictures e.g. 1 – Your own invention??? Triana 20 stabbings in 2011 Tomares 2 stabbings in 2011

Data Displays Suggestions 2 Secondary Data - 5 sets (approx)+ REFERENCED (a set of data could mean 1 chart or graph showing both area’s stats or 2, one for each) 1 – Choropleth map + choose from . . . Task: Create 10 sets of data displays from your primary data 2 / 3 for each key question Due in Tuesday 30th October

For A-A* . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . we would also expect to see your own techniques of displaying data What could these be??

How can I link my displays to my written work to make my CW flow?

Describe and analyse results Peckham Describe and analyse results These two pie charts are from my primary data. As you can see they show that there are more . . . . . .
