Career Cruising: Matchmaker Activity Welcome to Matchmaker which is one of your career cruising activities for your 9th, 10th, and 11th grade year. This activity is designed to give you ideas around your personal interests and how they relate to your post-secondary plans. Completing this activity is necessary for the completion of your High School and Beyond Plan, a graduation requirement. Please carefully complete the directions that follow. Career Cruising: Matchmaker Activity Get out your laptop

To Log in to Career Cruising: Open a FireFox browser window: Go to PowerSchool Learning and in the top right corner click ‘Apps’ Select ‘Career Cruising’ off the list and it should open You must use a FireFox browser to complete the activity. Open a Firefox browser and log in to PowerSchool Learning. In the upper right hand corner in a dropdown menu labeled ‘Apps’. From that menu select Career Cruising to enter the online system.

Click on ‘MY PLAN’ under your name When you open your Career cruising, click on “My Plan” which is located directly below your name on the left hand side.

Click the Assessments link in the menu bar at the top of the page and then click the blue Start Matchmaker button Today you are going to take an interests survey called Matchmaker. Please select the “Assessments” button at the top of the page and then click the large blue button labeled “Start Matchmaker”.

Label with your current grade. Read the instructions on the Introduction page Label your Matchmaker session with your current grade Click Start Now The Matchmaker activity will take you through a series of questions which you will answer using the buttons listed. Label your matchmaker session with your current grade level. For example, 9th grade if you are currently a freshman. Then click start now. Label with your current grade.

Highest education desired On this screen, you may make a decision about the types of careers you would like to be shown. If you would like to be shown careers that require a high school diploma only, select the high school box. Similarly, if you would like to be shown careers that require some form of college or training, uncheck the high school button and then check the appropriate college level or levels you wish to complete. You may change this selection at any time.

When you are answering your questions, be sure to read and weigh the options before making your choice. Answer the questions honestly.

After you answer the first 39 questions – scroll down to the Improve My Results box on the left and click on the blue Answer More Questions button Answer the next set of questions that will appear. You must do this twice until you have answered all 116 questions. After you complete the first 39 questions, scroll down on your results list and look for the ‘Improve my Results’ box on the left-hand side. Click the blue ‘Answer More Questions’ button to further refine your results. There are a total of 116 questions you should answer. The more questions you answer, the more it will narrow down the results you receive.

Explore Your Results You have now completed your Matchmaker survey. You may explore your results by clicking on any of the job titles and reading through the description of that career which includes information such as potential earnings and education needed.

Click on ‘My plan’ Once you have completed the Matchmaker and reviewed your results you must reflect and confirm. These steps check off the activity on your High School and Beyond Plan. Click on the My Plan button below your name in the top left hand corner.

Click on ‘My Progress’ Click the My progress bar on the right side.

Click on ‘Career Matchmaker’ On your My Progress page, you should see career matchmaker with a yellow triangle next to it. Click on Career Matchmaker.

Check the reflect and confirm box Click the check mark under where it says “reflect and confirm”. This step says that you have completed the Matchmaker to the best of your ability at this time.

Check your ‘My Progress’ Bar Your progress should increase by about 16%. **The percentage will vary based on how much you have completed and what grade you are in. Questions?
