This week students will learn more about the Native Americans. In Math, students will be introduced to money. How to recognize simple coins such as a nickel, dime, penny and quarter? Also, in math students will continue to learn about graphing. In ELA students will continue the lesson on syllables. In Social Studies, students will continue the lesson on Cultures and Families. N U Notes from the teacher: Hello parents and guardians: We hope you had a restful and warm Thanksgiving break. We are excited to see all of our students back on today. Math: Students will learn about measurements and quantity recognition. Science: Students will learn about measurements in math and science and organisms and the environment. ELA: Students will continue working on syllables and how to write a sentence. Students will also continue to learn about letters. Social Studies: Students will learn about the environment. January Pre-Kindergarten Classroom Ms.Hawkins and Ms.Norman Theme: Things in the sky Jan 25-29 2016 What’s Happening in Pre-K this week! Math: Students will review patterns. Science: Students will learn about things in the sky such as birds, clouds, and airplanes. ELA: Students will continue working on syllables and how to write a sentence. Students will also continue to learn about letters and sight words. Also, this week students will learn about final sounds. Social Studies: Students will learn about voting. What does it mean to vote? What are the procedures for voting and the importance of voting? Mbnm,n Notes from the teachers! Happy New Year!!! 2016 We hope everyone had a warm and safe weekend! We had a great week of learning last week. We learned about penguins and how they adapt to their habitat. We learned that the smallest penguin is called a “Fairy” and the largest penguin is called an Emperor. We also learned that a group of penguins are called a “Colony”. Penguins live in Antarctica. We learned the Uu and it’s sound and made U words. We went over our sight words can, me my. We worked on syllables and making words. Upcoming Events for the month! No events this week! But if your child’s behavior is below green on Friday a note will be sent home or you will be emailed. Please read 15-20 minutes with your child and please have a conversation and ask them what did they learn in school? Please have your child count to you each day 0-100. And say their alphabet. Please go over these letters and sounds with your child when driving down the street, at home, the street it works: Aa, Ff, Rr, Tt, Ss, Bb, Pp, Hh, Ii, Jj, Oo, Gg, Cc, Mm Uu and Ll. What we are learning in Pre-K! February Pre-Kindergarten Classroom Newsletter Ms.Hawkins and Ms.Norman Classroom Theme: Presidents February 16-19, 2016 x What we are learning in Pre-K! Math: Students will continue the lesson on measurements. Students will be using cubes and or rulers to do measurements within the classroom. Science: ELA: Students will continue the lesson on Add/delete word parts. ( Examples: the word ed you can add an r to make r ed and you can delete the b in bus and have us.) Soicial Studies: U Upcoming Events February 22nd: GEO/Parent Meeting at 5:00 and Parent Academy will be held at 5:45 here on campus. February 22-26: BookFair Notes from the teacher We hope everyone had a wonderful and safe weekend!. We would like to say thank you to all the parents and grandparents for sending in snack items for our Valentines day party, we had plenty! This week our theme will be “Presidents”. We will be learning about Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. We look forward to seeing each parent at the parent academy on the 22nd of February. Reminders Please continue working with your child at home on their letters and letters sounds, beginning and ending sounds. Counting to 100 by 1 and by 10’s. Working on the sight words each night please. Reading a book each night and asking your child what did they learn in class? Science: Students will continue lesson on plants and what is needed to help them grow. ELA: Students will continue lesson on blending letter sounds into words and continue learning about letters. Social Studies: Students will continue lesson on consumers in social studies. Note from the teacher We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and got plenty of rest from the time change! We will continue to review lessons and take the 9 weeks test this week. Parents our parent/teacher sign up sheet is up in the hall by the office! Please sign up and if this date or the times does not work for you please let us know. Thanks for all you do!!! Upcoming Events March 21-23– Review and testing. What is Happening in Pre-K April mnn Pre-Kindergarten Newsletter Ms.Hawkins/Ms.Norman Theme: Insects April 4-8 2016 What is Happening in Pre-K Math: Students will continue lesson on addition. Science: Students will have a lesson on different types of insects. Social Studies: Students will continue the lesson on consumers. What are consumers? Consumers are animals and people that eat food. ELA: Students will continue the lesson on recognition of the middle letter and sound. Words from the teacher! We hope everyone had a wonderful and safe weekend! Parents, please be very proud of your child!! They have been working with hard this 9 weeks. We started the week off with a blast with addition. Then we did lessons on the life cycle of a plant, and seed. The students worked on the letter Kk and focused more on alliteration words. We are learing to count by 5’s to 100. Way to go!!!
