Whats happening? Revisiting the Annotations of yesterday How do we annotate effectively? Their Eyes Were Watching God, Chapter 7-11 Quiz Remain quiet while taking your quiz. When you have completed your quiz, you may continue working diligently.

Annotating Effectively Organize the content you read so that you can go back to it later and quickly recall the general concepts, plot, and themes of the text. Highlight key information Characters, ideas, events and unfamiliar terms. 2. Use brackets to get the general idea of major paragraphs and sections When the text is too long, bracketing will help you determine which parts are important enough to re-read. Write notes in the margins. As you highlight or bracket section, be sure paraphrase and summarize what you have highlighted or bracketed. When looking back at the text, one should be able to tell the significance of the text without having to re-read the entire chapter or section. 4. Unfamiliar words When we are reading texts, we often come across words that we are unfamiliar with. Although we have context clues to aid us in determining the meaning of the word, we may face difficulties decoding meaning. When we encounter words that we are unfamiliar with, we must annotate them so that we can conduct research, later. Summarize the end of each chapter or section by writing a short summary about all that you have read. In your summary, sum up important events, ideas and concepts. Annotating Effectively Why do we annotate, anyway?

“Hello, my name is _______________ and I am a psychiatrist.” Your Tasks: Ace the Quiz! Read your Medical Handbook! Respond to the prompt provided to you! Now that you have blown your quiz out of the water, I would like to congratulate you for fulfilling the requirements to being a certified psychiatrist. Janie, of Eatonville, was skeptical about how skilled you were in your occupation. However, during her visiting you for the past few weeks, you have helped her unveil many things about herself. However, Janie worries that she may be experiencing symptoms for depression. Utilizing the data that you have collected during your “session,” you must help Janie determine whether she is depressed. First, you will be utilizing your medical handbook (articles) to revisit the symptoms of depression. Then, you will use your medical explanations to come to a conclusion about Janie’s behavior. Finally, Using the RACE strategy, explain your thoughts by providing evidence from the given articles.
