Jacob Riis He worked to improve city living conditions. He also wrote a book called “How the Other Half Lives" and a few more. Showed photographs of slum life to the United States. Was called the “Emancipator of the Slums”. He worked for 25 years to try and improve the living conditions for the poor. He wrote and lectured about the poor.

Frances Willard Temperance Movement (Ban Alcohol) Founder and president of the National Women’s Christian Temperance Union in 1879-1898. She spread her activities about alcohol around the world by giving speeches.
