Why integrate the study of Literature, STEM, and engineering? Literature has the potential to extend students’ thinking about life experiences. Literature is a great springboard to connect to STEM and engineering. Literature can provide scenarios of real-life problems that students will want to find solutions to. Literature can provide the foundation for intercurricular instruction. Literature can enhance students’ awareness of historical context when paired with STEM. Literature can provide a context for argumentative essays and connections to the English Standards. Literature and STEM provide the means to address more learning styles.
