Some questions to think about… Could objects hit the moon more than Earth, even though they are located at approximately the same place in the Solar System? Is there anything that Earth has that would protect it from getting hit that the Moon does not have? Looking at your previous answer…Do you think the craters that do appear on Earth are very big or very small?

Some questions to think about… (cont) Is there anything that the Earth has, that the Moon does not have, that will not let the craters that are created stick around? What other reasons could there be for why there are not as many craters on Earth? Scientists describe Earth as “young” and surfaces like the moon as “old.” Why do you think this is the case?
