What we offer: DVDs Books Magazines Database Access Laptops / Printing Research assistance Employment guidebooks What we offer: No electronics 

A fellow who had recently been transferred to CCTC had done some research while in prison regarding mass incarceration and its impact on recidivism. His first day on the bookmobile, he signed up for a card and asked for the latest on this topic. We found a few articles for him that day and I was able to locate a few newer books he hadn't seen. Reference

One of the new men came on the bookmobile for the first time and was happy to see that we had a computer available for him to use. Since he is right out of jail, he does not have a job or any of the perks the other men have; this includes access to a phone (aside from the pay phone) and especially the internet. This patron was excited to be able to use the internet to connect with his family members and children.  Internet Access

So many of my stories are about our bookmobile stop at the Centennial Community Transition Center. I think this is because we get to see the impact we make each time we visit. During Friday's stop I was reminded again how much we as a society take for granted. I talked with a man Friday who spend about 3 hours on the bookmobile downloading music onto his phone. He had lost all of his downloads and was at a loss for what to do. Once he learned he could use our wi-fi, his whole demeanor changed and he got to downloading. He walked away knowing  all of the downloadable options the library offers including music, movies, and books.  It never gets old hearing one of the guys say that they were going crazy because they didn't have anything to do or were missing their music, but the library delivers and makes their day, week, or month.  Downloadables

A little bit of everything We had a gentleman who is new to the Centennial Community Transition Center come on the bookmobile, asking about our services. Because he is fresh out from prison, he doesn't yet have a dvd player or phone. After looking at some of the adult fiction, he noticed the two patron laptops at the back of the bookmobile and decided to check his Facebook account. Unfortunately, this particular Facebook friend couldn't remember his password to login. He didn't think he had an email address so the standard password recovery was not going to work. The only other way to recover his password was by text. He thought he still had the same phone number, but didn't have the phone physically with him, so we were not able to have Facebook text message him a verification code. By the end of his visit, he had a library card, some fiction books, a non-fiction book to help with his career, a new email account, and a Facebook account to catch up with his friends.   A little bit of everything
