Peebles Test Operation Tour Transportation will be provided American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Dayton-Cincinnati Section GE Aviation Peebles Test Operation Tour 24 March 2011 12 – 5:30PM Transportation will be provided GE Aviation's Peebles Test Operation is among the world's most advanced jet engine test centers and is nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains in rural Adams county. The Peebles operation, with more than 250 employees and located on nearly 7,000 acres, is both an engine test and final assembly facility. Each year, Peebles runs final acceptance testing on about 1,250 engines manufactured by GE and its joint venture partners. In the development of a new engine model, Peebles subjects the engines to conditions that exceed anything they are likely to encounter in actual service--hail and ice storms, typhoon conditions, winds at nearly 100 miles per hour, structural failure, and bird strikes--to meet the stringent demands of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and other regulatory agencies for certification to enter commercial service. Transportation Transportation will be provided with one bus leaving from Cincinnati and the other from Dayton.
