All about Saturn By: Patrick Lu

The Size Diameter: about 75,000 miles 2nd largest planet in solar system Comparison to Earth: 120,536 km (diameter) 1 Saturn year: 11,000 Earth days Sun is 12 times larger than Saturn

The Moons Saturn has 150 moons and moonlets Only 62 have confirmed orbits Example of moons with names: Titan, Dione, Rhea, Mimas Titan is the largest and the 2nd largest in Solar System Titan is the only moon with an atmosphere

The Look Saturn is surrounded by large rings Surface is full of rocks surrounded with orange haze Has some river channels and shoreline Cold & dark because it is an outer planet Can be seen with human eyes

The Rings Rings are composed of dust, rock, ice accumulated from passing comets Size: across about 175,000 miles; Thickness: about 3,200 feet; Rings are huge and thin; they are not solid Sometimes the rings disappear

Other Features Major composition of Saturn’s atmosphere is hydrogen Least dense planet in the solar system There could be life near Saturn on its moons Human beings cannot stand on Saturn Saturn can float on water because it is mostly made of gas Saturn and the outer planets are known as the gas giants

Spacecraft Cassini NASA created the spacecraft “Cassini” Cassini had been sent into space and worked for 20 years His purpose was to collect info from planets, mainly Saturn Many amazing pictures were taken by him Cassini completed his mission and finished his journey on 9/15/2017
