Maps help you find location Relative The location of one thing relative to something else US is North of (from) Mexico Absolute Mathematical Coordinates given like (X, Y) Depend on imaginary lines of latitude and longitude

Latitude Run west to east BUT measure distance north or south of the Equator Equator is 0 degrees latitude

Longitude Run north to south but measure distance east or west of the Prime meridian
