“Eleven” Read the text using the following questions to guide your comprehension and take notes: What is literally happening in this story? Who are the characters and what do we know about them?

“Eleven” Whole Group Discussion: Let’s discuss the answers to the comprehension questions. Use RACE to support your responses. What is literally happening in this story? Who are the characters and what do we know about them?

“Eleven” TDQs In paragraph three, the author includes figurative language. How does the figurative language in the text help the reader understand the character’s feelings about getting older? When Felice says the sweater belongs to Rachel, how does Rachel respond? What does this reveal about how Rachel feels about herself? Why does Rachel feel that Mrs. Price is “right”?
