Welcome to Central magnet school Ms. CULP 6th grade World history

About ms. culp Graduated college with a B.S. in Elementary Education from Troy State University Entering my 21st year teaching and 4th year here at Central Magnet My husband is the SRO here at school and we have 5 kids, one grandson and another on the way. LOVE SCHOOL SPIRIT….yes I am the high school cheer coach. Contact info culpje@rcschools.net

6th grade world history curriculum We begin with Geography, Early Humans and the Agricultural Revolution Then……Mesopotamia, Egypt, Israel, China, India, Ancient Greece, Rome/Roman Civilization

Grading policies Total points system - For example: tests are worth more than homework assignments Penalty for late work/ will not receive full credit. Grade will go down a letter grade every day it is late. DO NOT LOSE YOUR COMP BOOK- it will be checked for a grade at the end of the nine weeks.

Teacher webpages Power points for lessons Links for certain assignments Notes or assignments to print from home Announcements- picture day, early dismissal day, study session, etc

iNow grade portal Importance of checking grades Teachers grades updated weekly Progress reports sent home- signature required if grade is C or below

Dress code Shorts/skirts must be fingertip length NO low cut tops-undergarments should not be visible Leggings are acceptable IF the top is finger tip length Holes in jeans must be below finger tips NO off shoulder tops/dresses/blouses

Supply list Notebook Paper Pens and pencils 2 sets of colored pencils Composition notebook Glue sticks- send packs of them as we use A LOT OF GLUE Scissors AGENDA is KEY to success! (writing down assignments for EVERY class EVERY day) The kids will write their HW and teachers will sign/stamp each agenda before they leave the classroom.

Wish list Kleenexs Glue sticks-use them daily Notecards 4x6 Fun size candy/snacks for student rewards where they cash in Tiger money STARBUCKS!!!

Locks and lockers Students have been assigned lockers It is up to you and your child to rent a lock for $2

Parent e-mails Please send me any email addresses you would like for me to have on file - please include your child's name, class period they have world history, and any email addresses you want me to have, also if there is anything important I should know about your child as the year gets started Send to culpje@rcschools.net.
