Metallica’s Legacy and Influence Metallica is considered one of the most commercially successful heavy metal bands in history considering the trials the band has had to endure The band has sold over 110 million copies of their albums since the bands creation Bands such as Godsmack, Machine Head, Trivium, and Avenged Sevenfold have all been quoted stating that Metallica was their inspiration and continues to be an influence on their music today Metallica has not only limited itself to music but has also had several appearances and references in pop culture. The band has appeared on the Simpsons and has released several movies including its most recent concert/action film “Through the Never” Since it’s creation in 1981, Metallica has tweaked its style to fit the new generation of fans. While this has not always been successful for the band, it has shown that the band is versatile and able to adapt to new demands from the heavy metal community
