Presentation transcript:

# 7 Digestive System Function- digestive system that consists of organs that break down food and absorb nutrients such as glucose. Cells need glucose for cellular respiration.

# 7 Digestive System Mouth-Digestive enzyme released(amalyse) Stomach- Churn food, excretes HCL Acid, enzyme pepsin is released. Small Intestine-Duodenum, Jejunum, ileum. Site of chemical digestion and virtually all absorption of nutrients.

Small Intestine(surface area pro)

Large Intestine- remaining food wastes pass into large intestines Large Intestine- remaining food wastes pass into large intestines. Cecum, Colon, Rectum, excess water is absorbed. Liver-Bile released into small intestine to breakdown lipids. Pancreas-with liver help keep the environment the correct pH for digestive enzymes.

# 7 Digestive System When out of homeostasis- a-teeth bad- can’t chew food b- stomach cancer c- Ulcers D-Crohn’s Disease-

Cool Facts The small intestine is 23 feet long in adults.

#8 Lymphatic/Immune System Structure-Bone marrow, thymus, spleen, tonsils, lymph, lymph nodes, lymph vessels. Function- produces leukocytes called lymphocytes that are key in the immune response(fighting infection, viruses, and harmful bacteria).

#8 Lymphatic/Immune System When out of homeostasis Allergies HIV/Aids

#9 Endocrine System Structure: Glands, Hormones. Function- Regulate metabolism, growth and development, tissue function, sexual function, reproduction, sleep, mood.

When out of homeostasis- Diabetes-pancreas stops making the hormone insulin which regulates sugar levels in the blood. Too much sugar can kill you Too small amount of sugar can kill you.

#10 Reproductive System Structure-Ovaries, Testes

#10 Reproductive System Function- genital system of sex organs & fluids which work together for the purpose of generating new life(a.k.a. offspring, you know..KIDS!!!)

Cells are called Gametes Male-Sperm Female-Egg

#10 Reproductive System When out of homeostasis- a) Infertility b) Low Sperm/Egg count c) Endometriosis d) Vaginal pH conditions not favorable

Cool Facts In the United States, almost 1 in 6 adult couples are infertile, according to a 2013 study in the journal Fertility and Sterility.

Technological Advancement

#11 Excretory System Structure- Kidneys, Large Intestine, Liver, skin, and lungs. Function-Filter waste products and excess water from the blood, and remove from body. 1.Large Intestine- straight up poop. 2.Liver- amino acids/toxins 3. Skin-H20 +NaCl 4. Lungs-CO2, H20 vapor

Excretory System-Urinary System Kidneys- filter blood and form urine.

#11 Excretory System When out of balance- Kidney Stones Kidney Disease Kidney Failure Cool Facts-Lazers and Travis

Technological Advancement Dialysis- Artificial machine that filters blood for you.

Dialysis work? https://youtu.be/fKlY2SKi_dk
