Renaissance 7th Grade

Middle Ages Review Roman Catholic church was the center of life for the people The church played a role in the government: collected taxes, made laws, waged wars (crusades 1096-1291- military expeditions to take back the holy lands in Southwest Asia from Muslim control)

Middle Ages Review Western Europe was made of many kingdoms. These kingdoms of western Europe were often at war. Charlemagne (German Frank) tried to unify Western Europe which ended after his death in 814.

Middle Ages Review Feudal system- social structure King, Lords, Vassals, Serfs/Peasants Growth of towns helped end the Feudal system Bubonic Plague (1347) also helped weaken the feudal system Killed millions reducing the workforce in towns Employers offered high wages Farmers left the countryside/manors to seek better jobs in towns
