ASHRM Vision Safe and Trusted Healthcare Mission To advance safe and trusted patient-centered healthcare delivery, ASHRM promotes proactive and innovative management of organization-wide risk. Our vision and mission have remained constant since 2001 Focus is on developing risk managers and advocating on behalf of the risk management profession Strategy focus is on Development, Voice, and Impact Development speaks to the individual risk manager and how we work to meet their individual development needs (ie: education; staff resources; connections to chapters and other individuals) Voice speaks to the work we do on behalf of the profession through advocacy and collaborations with other organizations. It’s about the risk management profession as a whole. Impact speaks to the strength of our governance and operations, our financial performance (ability to contribute to the foundation, for example), and planning to meet the future needs of the members and profession.

ASHRM 5,400 members (June, 2008) 48 chapters in 40 states and countries Chicago-based membership group of the American Hospital Association Board of Directors (10) Professional Staff (9) The Board tracks membership metrics, along with many others. Membership is steady for the most part. We tend to get a lot of new members around the annual conference. For example, we’ve had 1700 new members join in the last two years We are anxious to conduct the membership survey to learn more about member needs, interests, and expectations. ASHRM has invested in features to enhance membership (career center, vendors’ directory, on-line compensation survey) while holding membership dues to $140 for 5 years and program registration fees steady ($625 for annual conference; $600 for modules; $199 for audioconferences, etc.). ASHRM as also invested in staff with competencies and skills to deliver content in new ways, provide resources to individuals, and apply emerging technologies that consumers have grown used to in other sectors.
