Mission: The Libertas Academy is designed to prepare students for college and career readiness in the fields of government, law, and public administration.

What we found, regarding other law school programs: Most offer 4 major areas of study (with multiple subgroups): Business & Commercial Law Public Interest Law Environmental & Natural Resources International & Comparative Law

Learning Paths Offered: LAW, focusing on the judiciary system GOVERNMENT, with a local, state, & federal government focus PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION, dedicated to business law and economy Students choose their path of interest!

Student Admission: Libertas Criteria/Requirements: 3.0 GPA (equivalent to an 85) meet standard for all state assessments 90% attendance/no excessive tardies positive teacher evaluations no discipline problems live in SISD attendance area

Program Requirements: take pre-AP/AP/DC English & Social Studies courses (all 4 yrs) maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 90% attendance/no excessive tardies remain free of discipline problems project a positive overall image

Program Requirements (con’t.): Minimum 2 yr. participation in one or more of the following: Mock Trial Debate Skills USA UIL Academic competitions National Honor Society &/or National Technical Honor Society Teen Court

Enrollment Process complete & submit an entire application packet by January 10, 2014 obtain a copy of school discipline history/record get evaluations (via form provided) from current ELAR/SS teacher submit Commitment Form & In-District Transfer Form (if applicable) submit pre-registration & registration forms (Summer of 2014 @ AHS) District transportation available for students not in AHS attendance zone!

Frequently Asked Questions: What can I do if I am not accepted? Contact the program coordinator to ensure proper documents are on file and if so, make a written appeal to have records reviewed and have a final decision rendered by Principal. Must I stay in the program all four years? Yes - otherwise you must return to your home campus (Principal may grant exceptions after 10th grade year). Can I be accepted into the program after my 9th grade year? Possibly, with Principal approval (entering the 10th grade); course of study may be accelerated to meet program requirements. Do I need to re-apply every year? No - as long as you maintain all program requirements, which will be verified at the end of each school year.

Frequently Asked Questions (con’t): What if I missed the application deadline? Unfortunately, there are no exceptions; complete application packets must be received by the January 10, 2014 deadline. Can I participate in extracurricular activities? Yes – U.I.L. does permit students to participate in extracurricular activities. Who do I contact with any questions/for more information?
