Wisconsin Donor Registry Secure, online database Wisconsin citizens authorize consent for organ, tissue and eye donation Donation experts Register at YesIWillWisconsin.com Wisconsin has a new online Donor Registry which makes it easier than ever to authorize organ, tissue and eye donation. The Registry, launched by the State Department of Health Services, will help reduce the number of children and adults who are waiting for a life-saving or life-changing transplant in Wisconsin .• People with an orange donor dot on their license or state I.D. should still sign up. Register online at YesIWillWisconsin.com or at the Department of Transportation/Division of Motor Vehicles when you renew your license or ID. Anyone older than age 15½ can register. • The Registry is easy to use and takes only minutes to complete. It makes a legal record of anatomical gift and authorizes donation • Donation professionals have access to those decisions, which saves valuable time. • There are still 1,500 people on waiting lists for organ donations in Wisconsin. Hundreds are waiting for a cornea transplant to restore their sight. Thousands more wait for the chance to live without pain through a bone or soft tissue transplant.

Organ & Bone Marrow Donation UWHC and UWMF commit to paid time-off for staff who donate organs and bone marrow 1 month for organ donation 1 week for bone marrow donation Policy development underway for non-represented staff Discussion with unions for similar benefit for represented staff UW Hospital and Clinics and UW Medical Foundation will offer our non-represented staff paid time off donating organs. UW Hospital and Clinics also intends to discuss a similar benefit for represented employees with its unions. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for our employees to make this life-saving gift, should the need arise. Transplant experts tell us that kidneys and livers from living donors have a higher rate of transplant success and last longer than organs from deceased donors, but living organ donations dipped more than 15 percent last year. This benefit aims to remove the barrier of lost work income during preparation and post-surgical recovery related to organ donation. Details of the UWMF and UWHC organ-donation leave policies will be finalized and communicated in the coming months.

Match Day UW School of Medicine and Public Health 140 graduates matched 50 of these graduates will serve in primary care UW Hospital and Clinics Graduate Medical Education Program All 107 positions matched Residencies begin in June Match Day was held across the nation on Thursday, March 18 and at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health, 140 fourth year medical students learned their MATCH. About 36 percent will serve in primary care and 18 grads will be assigned to UW Hospital and Clinics or another UW Health facility through our Graduate Medical Education Program. Of the 107 Open Positions GME had a 105 Match during match day. Residencies begin in June.

Appointments Mike Sauk appointed to CIO Executive Steering Committee of the University HealthSystem Consortium Mark Kirschbaum named co-chair of the Legal and Policy Committee of the WIRED for Health Board (Wisconsin Relay of Electronic Data for Health) Jan Bultema elected Chair of the Health Care Workforce Alliance Jeff Grossman, MD, serves on WIRED for Health Board UWHC Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) Mike Sauk has been appointed to the CIO Executive Steering Committee of the University HealthSystem Consortium. The committee brings together top IT executives from the nation's academic medical centers. Tthe group's purpose is to guide UHC and its member health care organizations regarding policy and operational issues in adoption of new technologies to improve patient care, safety and overall organizational performance. You may have heard about the eHealth Board created by Governor Doyle at the end of last year. The Wisconsin Relay of Electronic Data or (WIRED) for Health Board is chared with developing plans for a statewide health information exchange by June 1, 2010. Mark Kirschbaum was named to one of the committees supporting wired, as the co-chair of the Legal and Policy Committee. In addition, Dr. Grossman, President and CEO of UWMF is on the WIRED Health Board.
