Induced absorption data for the 10 SIC crystals New SC – SC03 Induced absorption data for the 10 SIC crystals D Cockerill (RAL) ECAL TB Meeting, 27.4.2004

SC04 – with Apatity crystals Start to prepare SC04 for Apatity crystals ? Cantonal irradiation of another set of 10 BCTP, 10 SIC ? 10 BCTP 10 SIC from 2nd 2004 production ? 5 Apatity D Cockerill (RAL) ECAL TB Meeting, 27.4.2004

E0’ in bldg 11 E0’, with a prototype SC, moved to bldg 11 on 30 March to be connected to full ECAL R/O chain SC readout SC umbilical connected to Motherboard 25 channels MGPA VFE + FE card (SM1, 2003) = one barrel tower The VFE electronics is mounted on E0' with standard cooling bars. Blue LED pulses to front of crystals, one at a time Signals seen in correct order by full readout chain Possibility to inject light into each crystal separately from front D Cockerill (RAL) ECAL TB Meeting, 27.4.2004

E0’ in bldg 11 Readout Token-ring link board is also installed on the cooling bars 2 fibers-bundles : 1 for the token-ring, 1 for the data, no trigger read-out MEM Installed 3 FEM's for the monitoring : 2 qualified (4 PN diodes) for the S/R analysis; 1 reused (2 PN diodes) for laser acknowledge. Change ferules on 6 fibers to fit in the FEM's boxes Wait for MEM mechanics (end of April) and probably install MEM box on E0’ second cooling plate Performance The read-out with rose10 and token-ring command with optical FEC is tested and operational The noise level at the moment is about 1.3 ADC count in the lab. This is about the same as last year. But since the number of electrons/MEV is smaller for the Endcap, the Energy equivalent noise will be higher. D Cockerill (RAL) ECAL TB Meeting, 27.4.2004

H4 Infrastructure Support table Designed, under construction, TA1 group Cooling system – will use main system at H4 – low flow rate line for E0’ cooling – direct hard wired interlock from cooling PLC to LV – cooling status from PLC to CR via ethernet Cooling in single loop: - backplate - SC cover - MEM cooling plate - electronics E0’ insulation Under preparation by TA1 group D Cockerill (RAL) ECAL TB Meeting, 27.4.2004

H4 Infrastructure (cont’d) Laser system – ready from Mon April 19 VPT HV – 10 SHV cables to be laid from CR to area – NIM crate for VPT HV will be placed in H4 CR Precision Temperature Measurement – need to decide between M0’ PT100 system of Milano or thermister system of ETH-Z D Cockerill (RAL) ECAL TB Meeting, 27.4.2004

H4 Infrastructure Maurice: Hardware: no change with respect to 2003, except: 1. the camac crate containing the fiber patern units was suspected to introduce DAQ problems. Another crate found. 2. a person from the Saclay team got in touch with the 380V power supply. this came from the fact that even by pushing on the local emergency stop, the 380V was still ON on the table. this is now cured (the emergency stop will stop the power on the motors, but not on the control system sitting ouside of the barack; this was requested by sacalay. 3. the moving table has to be equipped for a new support for the EE module. the table is ready for receiving it. the turning tool was removed. 4. the last measurement on the triggering and beam definition support showed a misalignement of the order of 1 mm. it was aligned at the beginning of the 2003 tests. It was now aligned again. D Cockerill (RAL) ECAL TB Meeting, 27.4.2004

H4 Infrastructure Maurice (contd) 5. the additional 10 HV cables with SHC connectors on both ends for the EE will be mounted early may. 6. the chilled water system got a new cooling tower and new pumps. it should be more efficient for a full EB supermodule. good luck maurice D Cockerill (RAL) ECAL TB Meeting, 27.4.2004

Test beam running R-measurement Irradiate a single crystal at a time. Irradiate until crystal has lost ~5% of LY. S2 20x20mm2 counter 6.7*10-6 rads/S2 count, at shower max (assuming Gaussian beam profile, sigma 2cm). Use rate collimators (COLL 1 and COLL 6).  Increase rate equally in X and Y Try to avoid changing momentum byte collimator (COLL 3)  Start with a Laser/ped/temp run E=120 GeV 3 runs with S2 at 2.5k counts/burst to get reference. 20k DAQ events each run Increase rate to 20k S2 counts/burst = 30 Rad/h (could go to 30k S2 counts/burst = 45 Rad/h if possible) Limit DAQ to take 1k events/burst (avoid large data volumes) 8 hours per crystal ? during this 8h period, take laser runs every 20 mins with beam on D Cockerill (RAL) ECAL TB Meeting, 27.4.2004
