Developing Digital Products part 1

In this lesson students are learning about: developing digital products setting criteria for reviewing outcomes working collaboratively

At the end of this lesson students will be able to: combine different types of digital content to produce effective digital products

Digital posters… What are they? “Digital posters are timed presentations involving more than one screen that are used to give information. Digital posters may be used to advertise products or services as well as providing information. The screens are displayed continuously using timings that have been pre-set.” Where are they? How effective are they?

Examples

Clothes4U Digital Poster Brief The business needs more customers. Produce a digital poster to be displayed in mainline stations, airports and the London Underground. The poster must attract attention and persuade busy commuters to sign up for the personal shopping service provided by Clother4U. The poster must: consist of three screens that scroll automatically attract the attention of busy people passing by display the company logo and contact details on every screen.

Planning phase The ‘test buddy’ – A test buddy is someone you will work with throughout your coursework who will be required to give construcive critisism and feedack about your products and ideas. Feedback will need to be given regularly and will help you to evaluate your work and improve your products Task: work with your test buddy to plan the production of the digital poster for Clothes4U. What needs to be done when? Devise a set of success criteria to judge the finished poster Agree with your test buddy a review/feedback schedule.

Designing the poster 20 mins Task: use the Storyboard Template.doc to design your poster.

Gather your content and create the poster Use the internet/ other digital media e.g. camera to gather the content you will need for your posters. Start creating it using software of your choice… Hint… Graphics software (Fireworks/Potoshop) Digital Poster: Powerpoint
