Presentation transcript:

Meiosis and Mitosis Mitosis is the dividing of a cell to make an exact copy of the original cell. Meiosis is the dividing of a cell to make four copies of the cell that each contain half of the DNA of the original cell.

TYPES OF REPRODUCTION

There are two types of reproduction

ASEXUAL REPRODUCTION Only one parent * No Egg or Sperm (mitosis) Only one parent Offspring all look the same as the parents No variation in the offspring Not good chance of surviving in a changing environment

SEXUAL REPRODUCTION *Egg and Sperm are produced (meiosis) *Two parents *Offspring are different from parents *Offspring can all look different. *Better chance of surviving in a changing environment

Which one are you? List 5 other organisms that use sexual reproduction to reproduce

Which one is a bacteria? List one more example of ASEXUAL reproduction.
