Chapter 18 Charging Systems

Charging Systems Chapter Overview This chapter looks at the design and components of the charging system. There is considerable attention given to testing the systems and there is a focus on alternating current charging systems.

Charging Systems Chapter Objectives Explain the purpose of the charging system. Identify the major components of the charging sys-tem. Explain the purpose of the major parts of an AC generator. Explain half and full-wave rectification and how they relate to AC generator operation.

Charging Systems Identify the different types of AC voltage regulators. Describe the two types of stator windings. Perform charging system inspection and testing procedures using electrical test equipment.
