30 Second Speech Your first 30 second speech for this unit is to look for an interesting poem and do a recitation of it in class

Poetry Poster Design and create a poetry poster for this years theme “poetry city.” Each poster must include the following: The title of the theme “Poetry City” A background depicting the theme The date of Poetry Month ( April 1st- 30th) Insert a famous poetry passage that relates to the theme ( remember to give credit to the author) - Optional Create it and print it off on a regular size piece of paper Play around with different fonts and colours *This will be assessed as a “writing and representing” activity

Poetry Analysis Poetry analysis is the process of investigating a poem's elements in an informed way, with the aim of heightening one's own and others' understanding and appreciation of the work. Your analysis should consist of a well written essay of 500 words that will explore the elements of an approved poem.

Battle Of the Bards The Battle of the Bards will be a poetic performance where each student will read out or recite an original poem that they have written. Each poem will be a minimum of 12 well developed lines. At the end of all the performances a ballot will be handed out and a “top bard” shall reign supreme. * This will count as the final 30 second speech and will be assessed by the same rubric

Poetry Portfolio The poetry portfolio will be a culmination of all the different devices and genres that we have learned through the unit. Each of the poems must be typed and be the good copy.
