Dissection Tools

Dissecting Pan Used to hold the specimen Pin to secure

Lab Apron, Goggles, and Gloves Protect clothing from spills Protect hands

Probe Sharp needle Used to separate organs Used to point

Assorted tools Dissecting Pins – used to hold the specimen in place Scissors – used to cut through organs Pipette – to add or remove small amounts of liquid

Forcep & Scalpel Forceps- lift, or grasp an organ Scalpel – to cut

Dorsal = the top side of an organism Ventral =bottom side of the organism

Which tool is used to separate organs? Probe Scissors Scalpel Forceps

Which tool is used to hold organism in place? Probe Your hand Pins Scalpel

T/F it is better to use the scalpel when cutting through the muscle to get to the internal organs.

T/F Dorsal is the top of an organism.
