Democracy in America Book written by French author Alexis de Tocqueville Described democracy in America as a “culture that encouraged Individual initiative, belief in equality, and an active public sphere populated by organizations willing to improve society.” Idea that sovereignty belonged to ordinary citizens was a massive change in political thought BUT…political participation was mostly reserved for white males Women/African Americans and the right to vote

Write about everything that was going on in Jackson’s presidency up to 1834 Audience: think about where you find political cartoons (Educated guess) Purpose: think about the purpose of this cartoon and political cartoons in general POV- Author’s name is given.
