Differences Between PowerPoint 2007 & 2003 Interface Each Ribbon subsection is called a “Chunk “. The “File Menu” has been replaced by the “Office Button”, which includes additional commands and features which weren’t part of the old “File Menu Dropdown”. The Quick Access Toolbar will provide access to your most frequently used commands. You can add or remove commands as needed. Dropdown Menus have been replaced by “Ribbons”. Each tab indicates a separate Ribbon.

Differences Between PowerPoint 2007 & 2003 New Features New features and capabilities have been added to PowerPoint 2007. They include “Smart Art”, the “Trust Center”, and “Document Inspector”. Some of these new features will be discussed in more depth, later in the presentation.
How To Use The Office Menu To access the “Office Menu”, select the “Office Button”. Once the menu is opened, click on the desired item to select it. It contains all of the items which were located on the “File Menu” in previous versions, plus a few more. Converts the document to the newest version of PowerPoint. Get your document ready for distribution by using one or more of the following features: Properties, Inspect Document, Encrypt Document, Restrict Permissions, Add a Digital Signature, Mark as Final, and or Run Compatibility Checker. Distribute the document to others by using one or more of the following features: Package for CD, Publish Slides, Create Handouts in Microsoft Office Word, Document Management Server, and or Create Document Workspace. Adjust the way that PowerPoint functions so that you can work more efficiently.
Personalizing Your PowerPoint Options To personalize your PowerPoint options , select the “Office Button”, followed by “PowerPoint Options”. Select/deselect the desired/undesired options, and then select “OK”. 1st 2nd 3rd 4th
Using The Trust Center The Trust Center allows you to adjust the trust settings relating to locations, publishers, Add-Ins, etc. To adjust your trust settings, first perform Steps 1 and 2 from “Personalizing Your PowerPoint Options” . Managing Add-Ins To view your Add-Ins, first perform Steps 1 and 2 from “Personalizing Your PowerPoint Options” . Then select “Manage Add-Ins”. Select “OK” when done. 3rd 4th
Saving Documents In Different File Formats To save a PowerPoint document in a different file format, select the “Office Button”, followed by “Save As”. Navigate to the location where you would like to save the document, select the “Save as type” choice from the dropdown menu, and then “Save” . 2nd 1st 3rd 4th 5th To convert a PowerPoint document from a previous version to PowerPoint 2007, select “PowerPoint Presentation” from the dropdown menu.
Using the Insert Ribbon Options The features located on the “Insert Ribbon” will allow you to include elements such as tables, illustrations, links, text, or media clips in your PowerPoint presentations.
Using the Insert Ribbon Options Inserting Tables To insert a table into a PowerPoint document, select “Insert”, followed by the arrow below “Table”, and the desired table option. From the “Clip Art Pane”, enter in your “Search for” criteria, and make your “Search in” and “Results should be” selections, and select “Go”. Click on the arrow to the right of the desired clip art image, and then select “Insert”. 2nd 1st 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th An alternative to Steps 7 and 8 is to right click on the clip art image, select “Copy”, and then right click and select “Paste” in the location where the clip art image is desired.
Using the Insert Ribbon Options Inserting Illustrations Photo Album To insert a Photo Album into a PowerPoint document, select “Insert”, followed by the “Photo Album Dropdown Arrow”, and “New Photo Album”. Make your desired chart selections, and then select “OK”. Select the appropriate movie location choice, and then follow the steps dictated by the selected option. It allows you to enter comments, edit and delete comments that were inserted, and move from one comment to the other. You can also check spelling, use a thesaurus, and research information

Using the Review Ribbon Options Comments New Comment To add a comment to a PowerPoint document, select “Review”, followed by “New Comment”. Move the comment indicator to the desired location, and then enter your comment in the comment field. 1st 2nd 4th 3rd To edit the comment later, right click on the comment indicator, select “Edit”, and then make the desired edits.

Using The Document Inspector The Document Inspector is a tool which allows users to examine presentations so as to search for and remove personal or other sensitive information, that should not be distributed according to your organization’s policies and regulations. To use the Document Inspector, select the “Office Menu Button”. Then select “Prepare”, followed by “Inspect Document” .
