Have students enter assigned User ID and Password. Click OK. USER ID Example: c99.s51 for student #51 logging with the assigned classroom # of 99.   Password Example: !!SSItrain11!@#

Have student click Ad hoc Query and then Ad Hoc Query Starting Point

Choose (1) Run Report, (2) Preview With Limited Data, and (3) Insert Data. Preview with “No” or “Limited” Data enhances the speed of the database. Run with “All” Data drastically reduces the speed of the database.

Expand the “Presentation Layer” and the “Soldier Core”. Have soldier click the “Title” and enter their name. It is not necessary to type in Query 1 at this point. It is displayed here as an example entry for the Practice Exercises and Examination. Have soldier click “OK” and read the information within the blank canvas to see how to insert items from the tree.

For this demonstration, we will extract the following Soldier Core Data and add to the canvass (Information will be added in the order that it is selected):   NAME REPORTING FORMAT SSN CURRENT RANK AB HOME UIC CD TAPDB REC STAT DESCR TAPDB REC STAT CD SEX CD MARTL STAT CD MARTL STAT DESCR BASD DT Under +Apptitude Test Data Choose: GT SCORE and move to the Canvass

To filter the HOME UIC CD, single click on the heading and either right click for the filter icon, or click the yellow filter icon at the top of the page. For this demonstration, we will select WK0101 and click OK to complete.

Have students double click the CURRENT_RANK_AB and change the heading to read RANK Have students Filter the TAPDB REC STAT DESCR to ACTIVE. Click Apply and Then OK at the bottom of the screen. Notice that the TAPDB REC STAT CD for active component is code “G”.

Now that all data has been collected and filtered, we will save the report to our desktop folder. Click “Run Report” Click “View in CSV Format” Click “Save as” Find the created desktop folder and add the query. Click Open to view the report.

Click “Yes” for file format. The file should now be visible. Next we will add filters for each of the headings in Row 1.

To add filters to the headings, click the empty cell above Row “1” and to the left of “A” to select all. Next click the Data tab Finally, click the Filter icon. All headings are now able to filter. Click anywhere inside of the Query to deselect all. Notice that the bottom Dark Green Line only reads READY. This should be the case prior to any new filters, as this is where final answers will be displayed. Next we will use an example.

Undo filters until line is clear, prior to the next scenario Example How many: Active Duty, Enlisted, Female, Single Soldiers Are Assigned to WK0101? The example is “How many: Active Duty, Enlisted, Female, Single Soldiers Assigned to WK0101?? TAPDB REC STAT DESC: Use the drop down menu to filter for Active Duty CURRENT RANK AB: Use the drop down filter to choose all Enlisted personnel SEX CD: Use the drop down filter to choose Females MARTL STAT DESCR: Use the drop down filter to choose Single. Of the 197 personnel, 7 are Active Duty, Enlisted, Female, Single Soldiers. If needed in percentages, 7/197 = 0.036632 or 3.7% Prior to the next sequence of filters, undo all filters until the ready line is empty. 7/197 = 0.036632 or 3.7% Undo filters until line is clear, prior to the next scenario

Example How many Enlisted soldiers assigned to WK0101, have a BASD prior to 1 January 2009 and a GT score from 100 through 109? What is the Percentage? Display the Example. Walk soldiers through the example, using the instructions of the next slide, as it is slightly different when processing.

Only round to the nearest tenth Example How many Enlisted soldiers assigned to WK0101 have a: BASD prior to 1 January 2009 and GT score of 100 through 109? What is the Percentage? Explain to students: Select all enlisted soldiers Choose BASD_DT dropdown filter; Choose Date Filters; Choose Before; enter 1/01/2009; Click OK Choose GT_SCORE; Number Filters; Between; is greater than or equal to 100; is less than or equal to 109; Click OK 21 / 197 = 0.1065989847715736 =10.7% Only round to the nearest tenth. 21 / 197 = 0.1065989847715736 =10.7% Only round to the nearest tenth
