Intro Paragraph Specifically Hook Interesting quote related to your topic that is integrated. “The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which” in Animal Farm, George Orwell uses an allegory to explain the corruption and evil that betrayed the communist revolution in Russia (Orwell, 141). Notice the quotation from AF embedded with Smith’s own writing.

Intro Paragraph Specifically Hook Briefly explain Animal Farm’s plot and/or the context Animal Farm the novel is about Animal Farm the place; where the animals rebel to subvert the drunken Mr. Jones’ tyrannical rule. After their rebellion the pigs take leadership of the animals guided by seven communist commandments that make up animalism. As the novel progresses Napoleon emerges as a malignant totalitarian dictator who betrays the other animals with vicious dogs, endless propaganda, and a tendency to change the past (revisionist history). The novel ends with Napoleon and the other pigs becoming more human than any could have imagined.

Intro Paragraph Specifically Hook Interesting quote related to your topic that is integrated. Briefly explain Animal Farm’s plot Establish ETHOS** (demonstrate an authoritative voice) Explain your literary term, term and/or its context Corruption is when people, or pigs, in power act unethically to gain privilege, wealth, more political and social power, or any other gains. Orwell set out to write Animal Farm to explain the way communist governments tend to, through corruption at the top, turn into brutal totalitarian governments. This is a theme concept that Orwell explored in many of his novels. Smith has done a bad job here, if you look at his thesis he should have explained what tone and irony mean!

Intro Paragraph Specifically Hook Interesting quote related to your topic that is integrated. Briefly explain Animal Farm’s plot Demonstrate an authoritative voice (aka you know what you’re talking about) Explain your literary term, term and/or its context Thesis Statement George Orwell, author of Animal Farm, uses satire– specifically an absurd tone and ironic narration– to create his social commentary about power and corruption; this demonstrates Lord Acton’s idea “Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
