Presentation transcript:

Cell organelle party!!! In teams of 3 you will be making an organelle cake. You will choose to create an ANIMAL OR a PLANT cell You must bake or buy a cake and decorations for Monday (10A), Wednesday (10B). The decorations will be used to show the organelles of the cake. Your cake will be graded on organelle structure/function accuracy, presentation, creativeness, and organelles included and labelled. In class, prior to the project date, you will create a “key” for your cake, showing the different candies and what organelle they represent. Eg. Icing = cytoplasm But you must explain WHY you chose the food items to represent specific organelles.

Labels to include in the Cell Cake – you will include 1 additional organelle to make a total of 10 ANIMALS PLANTS Cytoplasm Nucleus nucleus ER GA Vesicles Mitochondria Vacuoles Lysosomes Cell wall centrosome chloroplasts

Organelle Cake Mini-project Grading Criteria 2 pts/organelle – 1 point for accuracy of structure, 1 point labelled correctly 10 organelles included _____________________________________ 20 points: organelles 5 points: ability to explain your project organelles, quality of work TOTAL: 25 points
