Overview of the Eucharistic Prayer General Meaning to the Part of: Thanksgiving (Page 75) In the preface the priest, in the name of God’s people, glorifies God the Father and gives thanks to Him for the entire gift of salvation and for some aspect of it celebrated in the feast or season of the day. The first part will be used at every Mass and is called: The Preface Dialogue. The second part is specific to the Mass or group of Masses. 12/3/2011

The assembled church through the Spirit offers Jesus, the spotless victim, to the Father. We unite our lives and surrender ourselves to God in union with Jesus our mediator. Liturgy of the Eucharist Communion Rite Breaking of the Bread Next the priest starts and we pickup on bottom of Page 91: “Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.” Sometimes he will say this in Latin: “Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis. Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis. Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, dona nobis pacem.” After this prayer, we kneel. At this point, he takes the host and breaks it and says inaudibly: “ May the mingling of the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ bring eternal life to us who receive it.” 12/3/2011

He continues inaudibly: “May the Blood of Christ keep me safe for eternal life.” (Notice he has to consume both species.)
