Why the Bible is Worth Studying “The books of the Bible contain love stories, war stories, dreams, first-person accounts, allegories, chronicles, prayers, jokes and puns, stories and parables, and even erotic poetry. You will find the following genres in the Bible: Narratives, such as the story of Jonah Novellas, or short story forms, such as Joseph’s colorful coat, and other significant events in his life A songbook, such as the Book of Psalms Legal codes, such as the majority of Leviticus National epics and historical narratives, such as the account of King David Visions and prophecies which speak to the collective conscience of a nation
