Where and What is Canyon Park? By: Kaylan Duthie

Where are the Students Coming From? This is the district map of canyon park junior high, along with the various types of housing available to the students. Apartment Complexes Mobile Homes

Where is the nearest “City”? These pictures zoom in from a map view of bothel to the downtown strip.

How did Bothell come to be? Populated by the Sammammish Tribe until 1870’s 1870 Colombus Greeleaf and George Wilson built homes, followed by 8 families in next 6 years 1876 George Brackett (Canadian) built logging camp Now Brackett’s Landing 1885 Sold 80 acres to David Bothell (Pennsylvanian) First postmaster (Gerhard Erickson) bought property in 1888 and named town

How did Bothell come to be? An original cabin that was used in Bothell when it was an old logging town

How did Bothell come to be? This is the family that lived in the old logging cabin pictured in the previous slide

How did Bothell come to be? These are some of the founding fathers of Bothell, pictured on the side of the old mercantile in downtown.

Incorporated in 1909 Logging and Boating transportation town Shortly after, Army Corp of Engineers dredged and straightened the River 1917 Lake Washington Lowered, boat traffic ended, logging stopped Brick road built to Seattle and Bothell became farming town Mural in downtown Bothell highlighting how it came to be

How did Bothell come to be? Post WWII: Better highways built and suburban development Pop. of 1,000 in 1950 Now: Much of employment in high technology sectors Biotechnology and software Cascadia and branch campus of UW (UWB)
