Genes and Inheritance Review

What did Mendel discover about genes? What is the difference between dominant and recessive alleles? What is the genotype of an organism? What is the phenotype of an organism?

Using T for the dominant allele and t for the recessive allele, draw a cross-diagram for a cross between two heterozygotes. Show the phenotype and genotype of parents, gametes, offspring, and the expected ratios of different phenotypes.

What is a Test Cross? Why must the test cross involve a recessive homozygote? In a test cross, what are the expected results if the unknown parent was homozygous?

What is a pedigree? How can a pedigree be used to determine the genotype of organisms?

What is co-dominance?

Draw a cross diagram to show the offspring produced if two pink snapdragons are crossed (R produces red flowers and W produces white flowers). Show phenotypes and genotypes of parents, gametes and offspring, including ratios of offspring.
