Lung Cancer
Originates in the cells of the lungs May spread from other primary locations to the lungs
Causes of Lung Cancer: 1. 90% of lung cancer cases are attributed to cigarette smoking One in 7 people who smoke two or more packs a day will die of lung cancer Cigarettes contain over 7,000 chemical compounds, at least 70 of which are carcinogenic
Non-smokers who live/work with smokers are 24% more likely to develop lung cancer than those who do not
2. The second leading cause of lung cancer is radon gas. Can become concentrated in homes from the ground (uranium decay in rocks and soil)
3. Asbestos exposure 4. Genetics 5. Lung diseases
