The Maltese Islands

What is an island? It is a land that is surrounded by the sea.

Can you name some islands? Malta Gozo Comino Filfla U.K. Sicily Cyprus Sardinia

Have you ever been here? Ghar Dalam means ‘cave of darkness’. It has animal bones from the end of the Ice Age.

What are these places or buildings called? Mnajdra is a very old temple built in the Stone Age about 3000 years Before Christ. It is found in the south of Malta near the Hagar Qim temple.

What is this place called? This is the Blue Grotto. You can see the small rock or island called Filfla from there.

Do people live on this island? Noone lives on this small island. It is called Filfla and is one of the islets of the Maltese Archipelago. The cliffs that form this islet are about 60 metres high.

Where is this beautiful place? This is the Blue Lagoon and it is found in the small island of Comino. Only one family lives on this island. Lots of tourists and Maltese people spend a day swimming in the clear blue waters.
