Ch. 14 Fingerprints. History of Fingerprinting The first system of personal identification used in criminal investigations was anthropometry. The first.
Fingerprints are useful because… they’re unique they’re consistent over a person’s lifetime we have a systematic classification scheme Why do we even.

Fingerprinting. Fingerprints Fingerprints are created because of the friction ridges (epidermal ridges) on our fingers. The friction ridges increase surface.
Fingerprints. What are Fingerprints? Fingerprints are impressions of the ridges of the fingertips deposited on a surface in sweat or oil. No people have.

Fingerprinting Different Types of Fingerprints Whorls Loops Archs

Fingerprinting Whorls - is a circular type fingerprint that is the easiest type of fingerprint to identify.

Fingerprinting Arch - is identified by the slight increase in the center of the fingerprint and decreases at the sides

Fingerprinting Loop - is a fingerprint that curves over the center but then re-curves back and forms the loop.

Fingerprinting Specific Classification of Fingerprints: Arch, Tentarch, Loop, Double Loop ,Ulnar Loop or Pocked Loop , Whorl , and Mixed

Fingerprinting When identifying Fingerprints you look at the center of the print and identify whether it is a loop, whorl, or arch . Then your look under a higher scope to see what specific print it is.

Fingerprinting Methods : dusting , infrared light , bi-chromatic powder, magnetic powder, flourescent powder ,super glue with fumming process, dye stain process , and a ninhydrin solution and the newest method is laser

Fingerprinting Fingerprint is performed because of the ridges on top of a finger which make up the fingerprint. Fingerprints usually form between 6-12 months during gestation

Fingerprints Fingerprints consist of : protein , salts, sweat, amino acids ( All of this forms to make DNA ) people have the same basic fingerprints , but no ones sequence is the same.

Fingerprinting Lifting Fingerprints : Fingerprints are lifted by certain powders: Chromatic, Flourescent , magnetic

Fingerprinting When fingerprints are left they leave either Latent, Plastic, or Visible Latent - invisible prints until processed Plastic - prints left in paint, wax or any other solid substance Visible - prints that are visible without even processing left in blood, dirt, ink , etc.

Fingerprinting Fingerprinting replaced the Bertillon System Bertillon System - system of classifying criminals based on their facial and bodily features and the measurements of the structures.

Fingerprinting Fingerprinting replaced the Bertillon System after the William West Case Case in 1901

Fingerprinting Fingerprinting - System that was brought about because of the William West Case . Fingerprinting was used to classify criminals based on the only bodily feature that no two people have the same of and it can never be changed. Fingerprints

Fingerprinting Bertillon System : Checked ; Body Height , Outstretched reach of both arms, Trunk Height, Length of head, Width of Head, Length of right ear, Width of right ear, Length of left foot, Length of the left middle finger, Length of left little finger, Length of left forearm.

Fingerprinting Finger cards are used to keep criminals and their identity on file.
