Shakespeare’s career: Wrote around 38 plays. Wrote tragedies, comedies, and histories. Wrote plays for The Globe Theatre Partnered with James Burbage and Richard Burbage. James Burbage owned The Theatre (name later changed to The Globe) Richard Burbage was James’ son and eminent actor, best of London. Shakespeare bought into The Globe. Shakespeare bought the Black Friars Club for evening performances. Retired in 1612, died four years later. On Shakespeare’s tombstone: Good friend for Jesus sake forbeare, To dig the dust enclosed here. Blessed be the man that spares these stones, And cursed be he that moves my bones.
