Predstavitev Ncomputing rešitev Gašper Mahnič M2G.SI Maj 2010 I think everyone agrees that technology is a key part of education today. And that goes from the youngest grades through post-graduate studies, and it is true in every school in every country. But as we prepare students to be productive citizens, isn’t it ironic that even though businesses seem to get all of the PCs they need, schools never seem to be able to get enough modern technology.

Rešite probleme z NComputing rešitvami in pri tem prihranite NComputing has a revolutionary solution. We call it the $70 desktop, and it’s already being used every day by millions of students around the world. I’d like to see it used here, too. 1 1

Delite presežek moči računalnika na več uporabnikov Delite presežek moči in stem prihranite That’s exactly what we do. NComputing has developed software and hardware that takes an ordinary PC and allows it to be shared by many users. Each user has their own keyboard, monitor, mouse and speakers Each user has their own applications Each user has their own preferences and settings and data files But all of the computing happens on the shared PC. You have just one system to manage, one system to backup. Delite presežek moči računalnika na več uporabnikov 2 2

Povezave ETHERNET PCI CARD USB L-series X-series U-series Now, there are three ways that the access devices can connect to the shared computer. Our L-series use standard Ethernet networks. [CLICK] The X-series comes with a PCI card, and the access devices connect directly to the PCI card. And the new U-series, which is scheduled to be available early in 2010, snaps into place with USB cables. Each method of connecting has its own advantages. Let’s take a closer look at each. USB U-series

Ethernet connection: the L-series Zelo prilagodljiv Vključuje vSpace program Več uporabnikov Brez omejitve razdalje 5 watts na uporabnika DO 30 uporabnikov na server Dva modela: L130, L230 (L230 z USB in microphone) 4

L-series Dell Inspiron 530 Dell Inspiron 530 Intel 2.4 GHz Quad (Q6600) 3 GB RAM, 500 GB HDD 30 users (4) videos in Media Player (4) Web sessions (2) IE with streaming video (4) Microsoft Excel (4) Microsoft Word (4) Adobe Acrobat (9) Microsoft PowerPoint Room to spare CPU 65% RAM 66% Let’s take a look at the L-series. Remember, the L-series connects through Ethernet, so there’s no limitation on the number of users cased on how many ports there are on a PCI card. The current limit is 30 users per computer, although you can go much higher by creating multiple virtual machines in a server and putting up to 30 users in each. Here we have 30 total users on a $500 Dell low-end server. You’ll notice that even with multimedia applications running the CPU usage is still only 65% and the memory utilization is less than 2GBs. (27 watts per user TOTAL) 5 5

PCI povezava: X-series Povezljiv preko PCI Kartice Vključuje vSpace program Boljša multimedijska podpora Omejitev razdalje do (10m) 1 watt na uporabnika Dva models: X350 (3-upor. kit) X550 (5 upor. kit) 6

X-series možnosti X350 kit X550 kit X550 X550 11 users 1 kit = 4 users adds 3 users per kit adds 5 users per kit 1 kit = 4 users 1 kit = 6 users X550 11 users X550 11 users We have two X-series products: the X350 and the X550. The X350 includes the vSpace virtualization software, three access devices and a PCI card with three ports on the back. If you install one X350 kit into a PC, you get a total of 4 users -- one user on the PC itself, and 3 more connected to the card. And you can install a second X350 kit and get 3 MORE users for a total of 7 users on one PC. The X350 sells for about US$219 per kit. So divide that by 3 users, and you get about $70 per seat. The X550 includes the vSpace software, a FIVE port PCI card and 5 access devices. By installing an X550 kit, you get a total of 6 users – 1 on the shared PC and the 5 additional users. You can install a second X550 kit and get 5 MORE users for total of 11 users. The X550 sells for about US$399 a kit. [NOTE: 3-card support is in testing] You might be wondering how well a PC works with 11 users on it… 2 kits = 7 users 2 kits = 11 users 7 7

Great multimedia on the X-series Dell Vostro 200 Core2 Duo 2.4GHz 2G RAM, 80GB HDD 11 users Multimedia Office Presentations Internet Room to spare CPU 65% Memory 55% This probably sounds too good to be true. Take a 2.4GHz PC that costs under $400. Run a DVD movie, Outlook, PowerPoint, video from CNN.com and YouTube. All of that and more simultaneously—11 active concurrent users… and the CPU is only running at 65% of capacity! You still have plenty of headroom. And as long as the utilization stays below 100%, each user feels as if they have the full attention of that 2.4 GHz CPU. Note also the very low power consumption. That 241 watts is the TOTAL power consumption for the whole setup– the PC, the monitors—everything. Divide 241 by 11 users and you get the extremely green 22 watts per user. We have some customers who are using NComputing as the basis of carbon-neutral labs; and schools that are powering stations off of windmills and solar panels. (22 watts per user TOTAL) 8 8

Use NComputing throughout campus Classrooms Public access Libraries Labs Signage Offices Because NComputing is basically a smarter way to do PC computing, it has can successfully deployed throughout schools—in all sorts of areas. Certainly computer labs and classrooms, but also libraries. And office areas…and digital signage, too. Anywhere that you use PCs, you can look at as an opportunity to do more for less, and without the management and maintenance headaches of the old, obsolete model where every station got a full-blown PC. 10 10

Prestigious awards in many categories Družbeni učinki Gospodarska rast Tehnologija Poslovne Izobraževanje Channel In addition to thousands of customers, many prestigious newspapers, magazines, analysts and consulting firms have given us numerous awards. For example, The Wall Street Journal gave us their Technology Innovation Award – it’s the most prestigious tech award in the U.S. Gartner, the most respected technology analyst in the country, gave us the “Cool Vendor” award Frost & Sullivan, a leading consulting firm, recognized the Green impact of our solution District Administration magazine gave us a Readers Choice award And the list of awards goes on… Economic Development 11

Prednosti More than 75%...it is actually 90%. 13

The greenest computing on Earth Manjša poraba elek. Enegije do -90% 1 to 5 watts na uporabnika Radikalno zmanjša stroške električne energije in s tem izpust ogljikovega oksida v ozračje Reduce e-waste 10 letna življenska doba (Brez gibljivih delov) Tehta le100 grams watts NComputing brings you the greenest computing on Earth. And we say that for several reasons. First, NComputing devices use less than 5 watts of electricity per added user. Compare that to a standard PC that uses an average 110 watts or older PCs which use 200 watts or more. And since less electricity is used, less heat is generated, so computing labs and classrooms are cooler. NComputing also reduces e-waste dramatically. NComputing devices weigh about 100 grams, compared to a typical PC that weighs about 10 kilograms. Our products have even been featured on the Sundance channel and have won numerous green awards for radically cutting e-waste and energy use. 14 14

Ogromen prihranek pri operativnih stroških 300 enot, 5 let 90% manj porabe ele. energije 70% manj stroškov vzdrževanja Daljša življenska doba When you add up the operating costs, the savings are staggering. This chart is based on a typical 300-seat deployment. As you can see, the electricity savings alone—the blue section on the right, is enough to pay for an NComputing rollout. We have a calculator on our website that allows you to play what-if with your own numbers and assumptions. But something that saves so much must have a catch, right? It’s probably really complicated or I have to go to some training class and get certified, right? 15

NComputing rešitve so preproste za namestitev in upravljanje Wrong, it’s really easy. The kits include the hardware and the software. All you need is a little bit of time… 16 16

Namestitev brez posebnega usposabljanja! Step 1: Namestitev PCI :05 :10 Step 2: Povezava z napravo :20 Step 3: Povezava monitorja, miške & tipkovnice Install in less than 30 minutes :30 Step 4: Namestitev vSpace™ software It takes about 5 minutes to install the X-series PCI card. Another 5 minutes to snap into place the access devices. Another 10 to connect the user peripherals. And another 10 to install the vSpace software. About a half hour total. And that’s the X-series. With the L-series, you don’t even need to install a PCI card. Because our solution is used around the world, we made it really easy to set up and manage. Entire computer labs can be set up in a matter of hours, not days. 17 17
