Presentation transcript:

Must I…? Repentance is a change of will (cp. Matt. 21: 28, 29). In this study, we shall focus on “must” (dei, “…it is necessary…” Thayer, pg. 126). The expression and question, “must I” is heard many times in the course of a day. Even in religion, many want to know if they must do this or that. Point out the results of biblical repentance (cp. 2 Cor. 7: 11). There are certain matters that man must do (slide two begins to present these must matters).

Must I die? Answer: Deut. 31: 14, Heb. 9: 27).

Must I believe God is? Answer: Heb. 11: 6. Man must believe God is in order to be saved.

Must I be born again? Answer: John 3: 5-7. Again, the new birth is not spiritually optional, it is a must.

Must I do something to be saved? Answer: Acts 9: 6. Many religionists say, “no, there is nothing for man to do to be saved.” Notwithstanding, the scriptures clearly show that man must do something (Acts 2: 36-47).

Must I be saved in Jesus’ name? Answer: Acts 4: 12, 7. Salvation outside Jesus’ authority and power is not tenable.

Must I worship in spirit and truth? Answer: John 4: 24. The idea of, “it matters not how man worships, just as long as it is sincere in his worship” is not taught in the scriptures.

Must I be judged? Answer: 2 Corinthians 5: 10. All men must stand before Jesus Christ and give an answer for this life! Are you prepared for the judgment and what is your attitude toward the will of God? Is it a matter of, “Must I?” with you or “May I?”
