Parent-Child Relationship Children should respect their parents because they have ben given authority over them by God. “Honor thy father and thy mother” Respecting our families involves more than just parent-child relationships. It also involves relationships between siblings and every other member of our families. The family has often being called the school of love because it is a place where we learn to love.
Family as Domestic Church The family is a domestic church because it shows forth a communion of faith, hope and charity. It has an evangelizing and missionary task toward its members.
Family as the Original Cell of Society The family is the original cell of society because it is where w e learn moral values, begin to honor God, and make good moral decisions. It is the first step, an initiation into society. Through having parents or guardians who take care of us and set boundaries, we learn the important lessons of autghority and obedience. “Don’t take his toys. They aren’t yours.” “You cannot knock over your little sister.”
