FAMILY AND FRIENDS IN THE HUMAN COMMUNITY

Christian Family The Christian family is a communion of persons, a sign and image of the Trinity. It is a reflection of the Trinity, in that it is a communion of persons. The family reflects the father’s work of creation through the procreation and education of children.

Parents Responsibilities toward their children Provide for their children’s needs spiritually and physically. Educate them on what is write and wrong, on the mysteries of faith, and on how to grow in holiness t

Parent-Child Relationship Children should respect their parents because they have ben given authority over them by God. “Honor thy father and thy mother” Respecting our families involves more than just parent-child relationships. It also involves relationships between siblings and every other member of our families. The family has often being called the school of love because it is a place where we learn to love.

Family as Domestic Church The family is a domestic church because it shows forth a communion of faith, hope and charity. It has an evangelizing and missionary task toward its members.

Family as the Original Cell of Society The family is the original cell of society because it is where w e learn moral values, begin to honor God, and make good moral decisions. It is the first step, an initiation into society. Through having parents or guardians who take care of us and set boundaries, we learn the important lessons of autghority and obedience. “Don’t take his toys. They aren’t yours.” “You cannot knock over your little sister.”
