Gilding Gilding is the technique of applying fine metallic-leaf or powder to solid surfaces such as wood, stone, or metal.

Gilding Modern gilding is applied to a variety of surfaces and by various processes. It is used for decorating picture frames as well as general cabinet-work and decorative painting in interior design.

Wood stains Unless paint is diluted, most paints are used as a solid colour finish. If the designer wishes not to hide the natural grain of a wood by painting it, he/she can use a wood stain.

Water-Based Stains Wood stains may be one of the following- Oil-based Spirit-based Chemical-based. These are chemical-based stains.
