Lab Equipment drawings – QUIZ FRIDAY Objectives 8th Science Wednesday 8-5 Lab Equipment drawings – QUIZ FRIDAY Objectives Review lab equipment Rubber Band Construction Cranes - What did we learn ? Know safety rules for any lab / field activity. Know how to make accurate measurements.

Notes: I. Lab Safety Hazards Broken glass Special disposal (special trash cans) Electrical safety (be sure hands are dry before plugging in anything). Never eat during a lab or touch lab equipment to your mouth Follow instructions exactly Fire extinguisher and first aid kit locations.

II. Making measurements Step 1: Look at the numbers Step 2: What is each line counting by? Step 3: Estimate between the lines

Warm Up: 8-7-15 Metric System 1) Do you think the metric system is easy or hard for you? Why 2) List a few of the units (g, mL, cm, - write the words) 3) Where do you think the metric system is used? 4) YES / NO – Do you know how to do metric conversions? (example: change 2 meters into centimeters) 5) Do the lab equipment quiz here (12 things)

Please find the graduated cylinder / thermometer worksheets from yesterday. Questions before we grade it? Each answer is +1 (label = ½ correct answer = ½ ) Do not count extra credit wrong.
