The following seniors need to join the NHS Class of 2017 group on x2VOL: Fossum, Travis Gaitan, Ashley Helbig, Cade Luman, Tyler McDougal, James Prudhomme, Gannon Spann Virginia

The following juniors need to join the NHS Class of 2018 group on x2VOL: Never mind. 76/238 juniors need to join the NHS group on x2VOL. Instructions for joining the correct group can be found at http://jetaylornhs.weebly.com/creating-an-x2vol-account.html

If you’re not in the right NHS group, it’s not too late to change to the right one! Hover over this and click groups/goals search. Juniors = Class of 2018. This should say “NHS Class of [your year]” All events found on x2VOL WILL count towards your NHS hours!

How to access the very spooky NHS volunteer event spreadsheet: Go to www.jetaylornhs.org Click “Volunteer” at the top of the page. All NHS accepted events will be on the spreadsheet under “upcoming events” ***If you know an event that is not on the spreadsheet but meets the NHS requirements (all-inclusive and non-profit), feel free to fill out this form so it can be accepted as an NHS approved event: goo.gl/PBzpXg

Don’t be a “bat” kid. Submit your hours on time. Hours Performed Must be VERIFIED on x2VOL by these following dates 1st Six Weeks (starting 8/13) September 30, 2016 2nd Six Weeks November 4, 2016 3rd Six Weeks December 16, 2016 4th Six Weeks (includes Winter Break) February 17, 2017 5th Six Weeks April 13, 2017 6th Six Weeks April 28, 2017 (All 25 hours must be completed by this date regardless of grade level) Finish at least 10 hours by end of 3rd six weeks.

Louisiana Flood Relief Car Wash success! Thank you to everyone who donated to support Louisiana flood victims, and came out to the car wash! We exceeded our expectations and raised more than $1600!

October Events

Homecoming! Drive: Tomorrow, before or after school in Mrs. Vandagriff’s room. Make sure you sign in your name, grade, and items brought at the door Package of Christmas Lights (needs white cord) = 1 hour 3 rolls of packing tape = 1 hour 24 pack of water bottles = 1 hour Maximum: 3 hours from any combination of items Volunteering: We need A LOT of volunteers to help Homecoming set-up, find out more on our Facebook and website Shout out to Linda Duraj!

Methodist Hospital Drive- 10/10-10/14 Drive of the month ~ Methodist Hospital Drive- 10/10-10/14 4 [English] magazines = 1 hour 3 [Spanish] magazines = 1 hour 1 phone charger (new iPhone and android) = 1 hour Coloring book (any age) + colored pencils (12) = 1 hour 1 deck of cards = 30 minutes, must be appropriate - can be Uno or other card games as long as it’s appropriate 1 pair of reading glasses = 1 hour Drop off items at Mrs.O’Neal’s room 1320 from 7-7:20 AM or 2:35 - 3 PM. Do NOT drop off items during school or enrichment.

In honor and fond memory of Lilli Curry... NHS will give one volunteer service hour for every ten dollars spent on an event ticket and/or donation up to a maximum of three hours. All proceeds will go towards the Children’s Cancer Research Foundation. Make her last wish come true.

Introducing CASA Cooperative Academic Student Assistance, sponsored by Mrs. Becker and Mrs. Guillen Applications: Due to Mrs. Becker by October 7th. No late applications will be accepted. Locate the QR code on the CASA, NHS and SNHS bulletin Board. See Mrs. Becker for more information Room 1630 Opportunities: CASA offers students the opportunity to serve their community. It also offers opportunities to earn volunteer hours (up to 8 per month) And interact with a multicultural student body. Training: The training will be in October. Please see CASA bulletin Board. Training is mandatory; there will be two trainings sessions available (am and pm)
