WHAT IS DEMENTIA ? Dementia is a syndrome due to disease of the brain ,in which there is disturbance Of multiple higher cortical functions including memory ,thinking ,orientation , Comprehension ,calculation ,learning capacity ,language and judgement Usually is of a Progressive nature Although Dementia mainly affects older people ,it is not a normal part of ageing

Common Presentation of Dementia People with dementia can present with problems in -Cognitive Function : Confusion ,Memory ,Problem solving -Emotional Control : Mood swings ,Personality Changes -Behaviour : Wandering ,aggression -Physical Health : Incontinence ,weight Loss -Difficulties in Performing daily activities

DEMENTIA CAUSES

DEMENTIA DIAGNOSIS –ICD10 Objective Memory Loss ;Delayed Recall Reduction of at least one additive Cognitive Function (abstract thinking ,attention ,performing dual tasks) Obvious reduction compared to previous level of Functioning No signs of Delirium Reduction of Motivation /Social ability /Emotional Control Symptoms standing for at least 6 Months
