WLTP-14-15e Progress report of Sub Group EV (WLTP-14-15e) 14th WLTP IWG 26 April 2016

1. Summary # items RESULTS status remarks EV_1 HEV system power Status report by EVE-IWG Continue to collaborate with EVE and develop the test procedure. OPEN Classification, Downscaling EV_2 Normalization Initial study report by Japan Discussed next actions Study the applicability to HEV EV_3 Supplemental Test (low temp./high altitude) No progress. (need close collaboration with TF) Handle EV unique portions EV_4 Supplemental Test (auxiliary device) No progress EV_5 Post processing Agreed ACEA document with slight modification as a base concept. EV_6 Durability Status report by EVE-IWG including Japan position study on battery durability EV_7 OBD EV_8 FCV OVC-FCV Flow Method EV_9 gtr amendment Agreed ACEA document with slight modification. More amendment is expected.

EV_1 : HEV system power Overview: Current status: Next Actions: Due to absence of HEV system power, all HEVs are classified class_3 and are not allowed downscaling (which are applicable for ICE vehicles, see next slide). WLTP is asking EVE-IWG for developing the methodologies of HEV system power. Current status: EVE-IWG working progress is going well as expected. Basic concept was developed and detailed procedure are under the discussion. WLTP SG EV is requested to provide the clear guidance for different type of HEV system Next Actions: Continue to collaborate with EVE-IWG. Provide clear guidance to EVE-IWG. Confirm the threshold of classification and downscale ratio after HEV system power developed.

Vehicle Max Speed+Distance compensation (regional) EV_1 : HEV system power ICE or Motor Power Power Curve Vehicle Max Speed+Distance compensation (regional) Classification Downscale Shift points ICE ✔ PEV NO Why : few statistical data Current : Class3 Why : no definition of power curve Current : maker recommended OVC-HEV Why : no definition of system power Current : WOT NOVC-HEV NOVC-FCHV Cycle Modif. Veh. category Phase2 working items

EV_2 : Normalization Overview: Current status: so-so NA NG WLTP-IWG has made a decision not to apply “Normalization” since no study on EVs has done during Phase1 activities. After completion of EVs study, applicability of “Normalization” should be re-discussed. Current status: “Normalization” works same level as ICE vehicles for all parameters under CS conditions on specific model. “Normalization” doesn’t work for all parameters under CD conditions. CO2/Fuel Consumption Range Electric Consumption CS conditions so-so NA CD conditions NG Next Actions: Asking other parties for additional study. Consider the way (possible options) to proceed: No correction algorithm but apply drive trace index with criteria for all type of vehicles Apply correction algorithm on only parameters which are well justified Develop the methodologies to take care of all parameters

EV_6 : Durability Overview: Current status: Next Actions: Durability performance up to useful life is one of working items during phase2 activities. After confirming the CP needs which parameter need to be evaluated up to useful life, WLTP-IWG takes care of ICE and/or pollutant devices. At the same time, WLTP SG EV takes care of EV specific requirements on performance and durability. Current status: Only EC has requested to consider parameters which have an effect on EV performance and durability All stakeholders understand the difficulty to develop general test procedure at this stage Recommendation of IWG EVE: it is premature to develop a procedure for battery and therefore vehicle durability; the topic should be continuously followed and the recommendation could be changed Next Actions: A. Continue collaboration between WLTP and EVE B. Asking for feedback of contracting parties C. Evaluation if a specific aging procedure is necessarily needed or if vehicle performance criteria could be an alternative

EV_COP : introduce new EU COP procedure EV_5 : Post Processing EV_COP : introduce new EU COP procedure EV_9 : gtr amendment (Phase 1b) EVAP. TF : EVAP test procedure for HEVs Current status: EV_5 : Introduction and discussion of ACEA proposal (WLTP-SG-EV-11-04_rev1/05/06/07). These documents are basis for further amendment during phase 2a (e.g. the integration of corrections coming from supplemental test task force) EV_COP : Introduction of new EU COP procedure for PEVs and OVC-HEVs (WLTP-SG-EV-11-11 and WLTP-SG-EV-11-12) EV_9 : Introduction and discussion of ACEA proposal (WLTP-SG-EV-11-08_rev1) EVAP. : Introduction of proposal to SG EV by Japan (WLTP-14-xx TF Evap Status report) Next Actions: Asking WLTP-IWG for adoption of Post Processing (EV_5) and GTR amendment (EV_9) EV_COP will be further discussed in next SG EV meeting EVAP: SG EV will continue to follow TF EVAP meetings to address EV issues
