Anarchy – no government or government in transition Complete freedom No authority No protection of those freedoms Chaos

Iraq was an example of anarchy (transitional) as it changed from one government to another, 2003.

Republic – led by representatives chosen by the voters Leaders’ power limited by a constitution Leaders are chosen for a certain amount of time The people hold the ultimate power through voting Lots of freedom Decision making can take a long time Decision may only benefit the majority of population

Monarchy – ruled by a king or queen Leader has long-term investment in well being of country Power is passed through the family Ruler may have absolute power No choice in leader
