FRAMING QUESTIONS Making meaningful questions using interrogative pronouns and adverbs The interrogative pronouns are: WHO,WHAT,WHOM,WHOSE,WHICH The interrogative adverbs are: WHERE,WHEN,WHY, HOW

Types of Questions 1.Yes/No Questions 2. Question Word Questions 3. Alternative Questions 4. Rhetorical Questions 5. Emphatic Questions 6. Question Tags

Yes/No Questions These are the questions which have ‘yes’ or ‘no’ for answers. Example: Are you going home? Yes, I am. or No, I am not.

Questions Word Questions These questions may be formed by using questions words (WH words).

Alternative Questions Alternative questions have more than one question in the same question. They are joined by ‘or’ Example: Is she going to Ambala or to Jaipur ? She is going to Ambala not Jaipur.

Rhetorical Questions In these questions actually statements put in the form of a question for sake of emphasis or dramatic effect. Example: Do you think money grows on tress? The answer to this question would obviously be ‘no’

Emphatic Questions Who ever asked you to do it? These questions are used to emphasize the felling of irritation, surprise or anger. These are formed in 2 ways: 1. Interrogative pronoun/ Interrogative adverb + ever 2. Interrogative pronoun/ Interrogative adverb + on earth Example: Who ever asked you to do it? What on earth are you doing in my office without my permission
