Betelgeuse By: Joey Labovitz good

Size of Betelgeuse Betelgeuse is one of the biggest stars in our solar system. It is 700 million miles in diameter. The sun is only 800 thousand miles in diameter. good

Temperature of Betelgeuse The temperature of Betelgeuse is 6,000 degrees Fahrenheit . The temperature of the sun is 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit. good

Color of Betelgeuse A star’s color reveals its temperature. The color of Betelgeuse is yellow and orange. It is that color because of the heat in the middle of the star. The color of the sun is all yellow because of its temperature. The hottest stars in the sky which are over 20,000 degrees Celsius appear bluish. good

Betelgeuse: Distance from the Sun Betelgeuse's distance from the sun is 570 light years away. It would take us thousands of years to travel to Betelgeuse from Earth. 5,865,696,000,000 miles = 1 light year good

Betelgeuse on a H-R diagram good

Betelgeuse in its Constellation When ancient observers around the world looked up at the night sky, they imagined that groups of skies formed pictures of people or animals. We call these imaginary patterns of stars constellations. Betelgeuse is found in a constellation called Alpha Orionis. People call this constellation the hour glass. good

The Life Cycle of Betelgeuse Betelgeuse was born in the nebula constellation of Orion when it was made by dust particles, hydrogen and helium. Betelgeuse will die when it runs out of fuel. When a super giant, runs out of fuel it can explode suddenly. How long the star lives will depend on its mass. The bigger the star the shorter the life. When Betelgeuse dies, it will become a super nova or a black hole. Betelgeuse is in a stage called the hydrogen burning stage. good
