Four Other Treaties The other treaties were created with the four nations that helped Germany throughout the war. These include: Treaty of Saint-Germain-en-Laye Treaty of Neuilly-sur-Seine Treaty of Trianon Treaty of Sèvres These treaties were all named after the cities in Paris they were signed in. They were all created after the failed Treaty of Versailles.

Treaty of Saint-Germain-en-Laye The Treaty of Saint-Germain was signed with Austria on September 10, 1919. This was the beginning of the break-up of the Habsburg Empire also known as the Austria-Hungary. Austria had lost Bohemia and Moravia to the new countries Czechoslovakia. The following countries were given to Yugoslavia: Herzegovina, Bosnia, Dalmatia Galicia would be given to Poland and Romania would get Bukovina. Italy were granted parts of South Tyrol which were Trentino, Istria, Trieste.

Treaty of Neuilly-sur-Seine This was a treaty between Bulgaria and the allied powers of WW1. The treaty was... Treaty signed on November 27, 1919 Bulgaria was forced to give back from the land to Yugoslavia and Greece (Yugoslavia was a newly formed country due to the Corfu Declaration) Reduce its army to 20,000 men Pay reparations of £100 million pounds And because Bulgaria had to give land up borders changed and shrunk mostly

Treaty of Trianon Treaty signed on June 4, 1920. The treaty involves Hungary and with the “Allied Powers” (Great Britain, France, Italy, USA)* In this treaty, Hungary lost a lot of land to smaller countries such as Czechoslovakia Romania and Yugoslavia. The loss of land and people caused Hungary to become broke and was unable to pay for reparations. Hungary’s army was forced to become smaller. 35,000 volunteers. Must be lightly armed. The Treaty of Sèvres The Treaty of Sévres was signed in Sevres, France by The Ottoman Empire (Turkey), France, and Britain on August 10, 1920. With this treaty… Turkey (the Ottoman Empire) was split up, and Turkish sovereignty was abolished Turkey no longer had rights over Arab Asia and North Africa Created an independent Armenia, for a self- governed Kurdistan Greek took over eastern Thrace, the Anatolian west coast, and Greece was given control over the Aegean islands including the Dardanelles.

Self-Determination There were many nations that had wanted to be free and rule themselves. This is exactly what Self Determination is;the idea that countries create their own state, and choose their own government. Self Determination was a major factor in the World War 1. Woodrow Wilson has listed self determination as one of the post world war objectives to complete. This was seen as a peace aim after WWI Caused problems in the future. Created new nation-states in Eastern Europe from what was known as the Austro-Hungarian Empire
